electrelane es un cuarteto de brighton conocido por tener una alineación netamente femenina -algo que, en pleno siglo 21, sigue llamando la atención- y por haber lanzado cuatro discos como rock it to the moon (2001), the power out (2004), axes (2005) y el reciente no shout no calls (2007), aún no comentado aquí, pero sí en snobzine y en manzarock, así como un recopilatorio de b-sides en el 2006. the partisan llegó a sonar en la programación del radioblog en el 2006, pero mi favorita de este cuarteto era on parade (2004), y así han transcurrido casi diez años desde la formación de electrelane, hasta que a inicios de noviempre del 2007 apareció este comunicado en su página web: "we have decided that the upcoming gigs will be our last for the foreseeable future. after ten years of much fun and hard work, we have realised that we all need a break and time to do other things. this was a tough decision for us to make, but ultimately a positive one. a big thank you to everyone who has come to our shows, put on our shows, and bought our records over the years. it means a lot to us. we’re really grateful to have had the opportunity to play gigs all over the world and to meet so many lovely people. this last year has been especially enjoyable and we feel happy about moving on with all these good memories to look back on. at the moment we haven’t made any band plans for the future, but we’re going to have a break and see what happens. love, electrelane." con esas palabras, electrelane se despide de sus seguidores justo cuando mejor estaban sonando, pues al parecer de esta página, no shout no calls es el mejor disco del ahora disuelto cuarteto.
